Which device is better: OPPO Reno 3 or OPPO F15?

Hello! In today’s post, I’m going to compare two of my favorite Oppo smartphones using my observations. Those are Oppo Reno 3 and Oppo F15.

I’m sure this post will help you to choose the best phone out of these based on your need and budget.

If we talk about the appearance of the devices, they look pretty much the same. The thickness, width, and height of the device are almost the same. Both devices support to include 2 nano-SIM cards and a micro SD card.

If you pay very close attention to the power buttons of the two devices, you’ll able to see a green accent in the power button of Oppo Reno 3.

At the bottom of both devices, you will be able to find the speaker, USB port (type C), microphone, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. On top of the device, you’ll notice a noise cancellation microphone.

If you carefully observe the back of the device, you will notice that the camera lens of Oppo Reno 3 is slightly different from the Oppo F15. The bottom-most two lenses of Oppo Reno 3 are marked using two circles. This cannot be seen in the other device.

The main camera setup (4 cameras) of both devices is as follows.

a) Oppo F15 camera setup: 48MP, 8MP, 2MP and 2MP lenses

b) Oppo Reno 3 camera setup : 48MP, 13MP, 8MP and 2MP lenses

Both cameras include a LED flash. 1080p video recording is possible with both devices.

Based on my experience, I feel that the main camera of Oppo Reno 3 provides more detailed, high-quality photos in normal and wide range situations. The Oppo F15 produces photos with good exposure and brightness. However, when the photo is zoomed in, I was able to see that the photo taken from Oppo Reno 3 has more details and color density (compared to the F15 device). For me, F15 is sufficient as I am not a hardcore photographer, but if you are really concerned about the quality of the photos, Oppo Reno 3 will be the best option out of these two.

Oppo Reno 3 has a front camera (for selfies) with 44 megapixels. A 16MP selfie camera was found in the F15 device. The selfie images captured from the Reno 3 has more details compared to the other device (you can easily notice this when zooming).

I noticed that the low light performance, details of ultra-wide photos, and exposure (of images) are comparatively higher in the Oppo Reno 3 device (compared to Oppo F15). This can be due to the hardware improvements in the Oppo Reno 3 phone.

NFC (Near Field Communication) was only seen in Oppo Reno 3 device. Personally, this is not a problem for me as I rarely use NFC.

Both devices are powered by a 4025 mAh battery. Based on my observations, the Oppo Reno 3 device can be fully charged within about 1h 30 mins. The other device took about 25 minutes longer than that. For this test, I have used these devices with 8 GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.

When it comes to the chipset also, there is a difference. Mediatek Helio P90 chipset can be found in the  Reno 3 device. On the other hand, the F15 has a Mediatek Helio P70 chipset.

The CPU of each phone has 8 cores (Octa-core), but the internal arrangement is different. In Oppo Reno 3, you can find two cores of 2.2 GHz and six cores of 2.0 GHz. but in Oppo F15, you will find four cores of 2.1 GHz and four cores of 2.0 GHz.

The displays of both devices are of size 6.4 inches (diagonal). The resolution is also the same (1080 x 2400 pixels).

So what is our conclusion?

If you are really concerned about the quality of the photographs taken using your phone, then it’s a good idea to choose Oppo Reno 3. However, if you are interested in the performance and other features and still want to save some money, then consider Oppo F15. Either way, make sure to clearly analyze your real need before choosing a mobile phone.
